Success Story #2
Premier helps client decrease labor expenses by nearly $175,000.
An Interactive Children's Toy Manufacturer was experiencing rapid growth and an increased demand for their product. To accommodate the company's growth, a larger warehouse and distribution center was being built, while simultaneously closing the older warehouse. This required dual staffing challenges, further complicated by the 35-mile distance between locations. The client called their staffing vendor that they had relied on for the previous 5 years requesting 100 temporary employees to be split between the two locations. The week before their peak busy period, the client was told by their staffing vendor that they were not able to handle their level of staffing needs.
Through the efforts of two branch locations of Premier, utilizing an array of non traditional recruitment practices, we were able to not only source the immediate needs of our new client, but to also reduce the overall staffing expense to the client, oversee a risk management process in regard to the contingent staff and to increase productivity.
Premier was able to achieve a decrease of nearly $175,000 in labor expense through a well-executed contingent staffing plan to manage the seasonal peaks of our client. This plan included a strong bi-lingual recruitment and training program, a reduction of overtime hours, and a dramatic reduction of employee layoffs surrounding seasonal peaks.
Premier effectively managed risk relating to the client workforce. The workload was successfully balanced during their peak production times, thereby reducing the demand on the full time staff and in effect lowering the turnover rates for our client. Premier managed all regulatory requirements for the sizeable contingent workforce at the client site, including handling all government reporting requirements and security checks.
Upon working with this client through their first peak period, we also realized a need to closely manage the time reporting function for the contingent workforce. There had been no process in place to manage the weekly reporting of contingent employees in the event that supervisors were not present. Premier responded to this concern by installing a Biometric Time and Attendance System to capture total time worked through hand scans of contingent workers as a means to check in and out of shifts. This eliminated the human error associated to time approval. The client realized an additional 3.8% reduction in contingent staffing costs. |
